Many of us have been inspired by the music Bobby Gillespie created with bands like Primal Scream, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and most recently by his collaboration with Jehnny Beth. However, we were also inspired by his fierce political voice and activism, always proud of his working-class upbringing.

In today’s music world, we don’t hear many dissenting voices anymore, exactly the opposite of the rock and roll culture Bobby grew up with and passed on through his music for all those years.

When Primal Scream released Chaosmosis in 2016, influenced by Bobby reading Franco “Bifo” Berardi and Félix Guattari, it became clear, before there was even an idea of ISSA yet, that Bobby had to become a part of our gang.

We thank Bobby for his generous donation to ISSA and for his heartfelt support of the entire project from the very start.
